1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

New York is nothing, if not, overflowing with incredible places to sit, sip and enjoy. But, rarely is a single location seemingly as perfect for any suitable wine occasion as the newly opened 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.  

Situated on the waterfront with spectacular views of downtown New York over the East River and, as the name suggests, the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge, 1Hotel is one of those places that makes you understand why some people go to hotels and decide to just never leave. 

The lure of 1 Hotel lies not so much in its fancy but in its seamless style and character.  Centered around a gorgeous open lobby that features a living wall as its centerpiece, the hotel is equal parts industrial chic and beach house escape. This is due in large part to its natural materials, floor-to-ceiling window and comfy mix of a perfectly styled oversized lobby and bedroom furniture. 

While its rooftop bar already has NY’s social elite running for a prime seat and view, I love its lobby just as much. The sweeping living wall of mixed plants makes it feel as if the greenhouse has come inside and you are surrounded by it. Future options are mixed, so you can work astutely at a table or cozy up on a couch. And the place smells like the man you imagine in your dreams. 

What’s more, this little boutique treasure just seems to work, no matter the occasion.  Whether I am in work mode, girlfriend mode, family mode or date mode, the 1 Hotel has a little bit of something for everything. 

On Saturdays, I love finding a spot in the lobby with my laptop and my headphones and writing (current location as I type) into the early afternoon while I breathe in the plants. 

At about 3pm, the lounge opens, and I get to treat myself for a job well done, of course, with a glass of bubbles.  There is nothing better than a glass of bubbly to close a work session as the sun begins to set.  Flute in hand, I re-read my work and contemplate the rest of the evening… In or out… Heels or flats… Manhattan or Brooklyn… Boy #1 or boy #2… ;)
